How to Create a Cartoon Logo

Updated: Sep 13, 2020

Here’s a little behind the scenes look at how a cartoon logo is produced. This was originally constructed for my teaching site but I thought it might be fun for readers here to take a look at how an actual logo is produced using tools found in the Adobe CC suite. As you view this video please keep in mind that the speed of the presentation has been increased in order to allow viewers to see the entire process. The actual illustration took many hours to complete and film.

When creating logo art I typically work with Adobe’s Illustrator. Although bitmap programs like Adobe Photoshop produce excellent results, a vector image has much more flexibility, especially when it comes to reproducing logo art at various sizes. That means your image will look as crisp at 6 feet tall on the side of a truck as it will at 3 inches tall on the top of a business card. My advice to anyone shopping for a new logo would be to ask for vector. It is much easier to convert a vector image to bitmap than it is to convert a bitmap to vector. I hope this information has been helpful. If you’re not sure about the difference between vector and bitmap or which one you should be using, feel free to drop me a line. I’d be happy to explain
